Heat Wave
That's right the last two weeks we've had perfect summer weather. While it was snowing in Winona Lake we have 70 degree weather. The other day it was midnight and the thermometer read 82 degrees inside the apartment. Great weather for a picnic. We'll invite everyone we know to join us for a picnic Saturday as a going away party before we leave. Until then ... short sleeves are the fashion on the sidewalks, and our friends have already broken out the shorts for running around the house - a habit that is generally reserved for Hot Weather in August.

Preparing for America
So far most of our preparations for returning to America have integrated into our regular everyday schedule. We have been shopping and packing side-by-side with prayer meetings and Bible reading groups. But I haven't touched the dishes in a week, and the other housework even less. I'm fighting a cold right now and the list of things to accomplish before we fly to America is about 19 tasks long. This week we will need to focus full-time on America. And laundry and cleaning is not even on this To-Do list. I just put a load of laundry in, the first of what will probably be 10 loads before we leave the apartment to our friends. The pressure of having somebody stay in our apartment while we're gone is good for me because otherwise I would be tempted to leave the cleaning undone, but imagine how disgusting that would be after two and a half months!
One Last Coffee Together
So if I were really disciplined I would say no to all of my friends that want to get together one-last-time before we leave. But what can I say, I'm a push-over. So we are going to Choir practice tonight, practicing for a concert we won't be here to preform in. Tomorrow night we are invited to dinner with friends. Wednesday night we are having an English conversation club that will require some lesson planning on my part. Thursday night is CinéClub I might be able to skip that one. Friday is a prayer meeting with some young ladies. Friday night we are supposed to be having some friends over for appetizers, but haven't invited them yet. Saturday we are having a picnic for all of the people that we missed, who want to see us before we leave. Sunday is "The Gathering" a worship service we do each week, but I might have to skip that too just to keep my sanity. Monday is Choir practice again, and Tuesday we fly.
I can't send invitations to English conversation club, or the Saturday picnic, because our e-mail is down. And the phone service isn't working today so we can't call you in America.
So running low on energy with my cold, and having every house keeping chore well past the overdue state, and keeping a ministry schedule at about 90% this week, and adding 19 little last-minute tasks that need to be accomplished in the next seven days. I predict we are going to land in America very exhausted.

This club might just continue while we are gone since Cédric is running it.
Easter
Saturday we celebrated Easter with a spontaneous Easter dinner at our apartment. Dinner, Rob read the Easter Story from John, we talked about how Easter represents frogiveness and a clean slate from our past. These folks are my true Spiritual Family. We talk the most deeply about spiritual subjects and even when we are busy we still find time to keep in contact like a family should.
Sunday we celebrated Easter with the Martin family. Easter dinner. Reading the Easter Story according to Games. Great Fun and bonding with our teammates.
Sunday evening we had an Easter service at our regular meeting time. La Rencontre du Dimanche Soir (The Sunday Gathering) was great worship and the story of Easter according to Luke.
After the Sunday Gathering we went out to eat for dinner with two neighbors Sanaa, and Neomal.

Jr. High Scavenger Hunt
Carole is the middle child of our teammates the Martins. Saturday we invited her friends to go on a scavengerhunt around town, and we invited our gospel choir friends to act out the characters along the way.
In the spirit of a "Who done it?" This time the mystery to be solved was "Where's the Body?"
At each location they found a character from the Easter story and interviewed them to discover the truth about where Jesus' body has been hidden.
Julien playing the part of Dr. Luke the disciple of Jesus. He proved to us that it was impossible for Jesus to have fainted or faked his death, Jesus really did die on the cross.
Céline and Amandine play the part of the Roman Guards. One tells the lie the Religious leaders paid them to tell, the other tells the truth - earthquake, bright light, angel - this body wasn't stoolen by the disciples.
Claire Martin, the oldest Martin child, plays the part of Mary. Mary tells us that she saw Jesus, and that he changed her life.
Then we met Dennis Martin playing the part of Peter just after Jesus has prepared breakfast on the beach for him. Peter tells us that Jesus was a man of love, he demonstrated how to live a life full of love. Jesus forgave Peter, and he can forgive you too.

3.0 Thirty Something Club
A profound quote from our last Thirty Something Club, this monthly club was started by a friend of ours.
The guest speaker was a French 28 year old author/screenwriter/board game creator. (He worked with the guy who created Prison Break)
After this Thirty Something Club we headed to a reastaurant to dine with three friends. One of these friends is on a spiritual journey, the other two have been believers for some time. So the journey-man is sharing a recent discovery that God has created ethics and that we should decide to stop at the stop sign because it pleases God, and it demonstrates love to our fellow man. (As opposed to avoiding being caught or avoiding a fine.) Then he turns and askes one of the believers present what standard they regularly use for making moral decisions. But this believer replied with an equally philosophical comment on how all morals are culturally relative and determined by the social pressures and not necessarily handed down directly from God.
So yet again another spiritual discussion arises in our pressence. The Lord has really blessed us by surrounding us with sensitive people who are musing over deep and amazing things. We love these conversations and we find that they are enriching for everyone involved.
